Profile: Dan Roberts is a dancer of striking poise, agression, energy and ability. He has been working in Greece since 2003 and has worked as a dancer with the Greek hit performer Notis Sfakianakis since 2004, where his agressive style, strong points of powerful movement, high elevation and an unerring ability to pick steps up quickly serve him well. He tours regularly with Notis and has done much television work whilst supporting several Greek hit recording artistes including working with the Greek 'Pop Idol' winner. He has also worked with another Greek top 10 star Yiorgos Mazonakis. Recent tours include a one-off performance at the Wembley Arena in London and Dan is at present embarking on a national tour of Greece with Notis. ~ Dan has had dance in his soul from the age of seven when he began competing in local dance festivals and built up a large collection of medals, trophies and certificates. Whilst attending local Joan Ward School of Dance, he cut his performance teeth in in local productions of ballets such as Coppelia. It was during his initial training here that the his talent was noticed and he won a scholarship to The British Ballet Organisation and a place at The Royal Ballet School Junior Associates. Dan attended both until the age of 11, when he auditioned for a full time place at The Royal Ballet School and was awarded a prestigious place at White Lodge; spending 2 years training there and participating in several public performances. In 1999 he won a scholarship to attend The Arts Educational School in Tring Hertfordshire, where he worked hard to complete his training. During his time there he appeared on the television programme Trading Places (filmed Oct 1999, televised April 2000 & July 2001), appeared in the Festival of Rememberance on BBC TV and performed with Adonais Ballet Company in The production of Carmen in 2000, and performed and choreographed in various Dance School Showcases. One of the high points of this period of Dan's training was appearing in a charity dance spectacular at the London Coliseum with a host of stars including: Irek Mukhamedov, Altynai Aslymuratova; Adam Cooper, Viviana Durante, Daria Klimentova; Miyako Yoshida, Tamara Rojo and Mara Galeazzi! In such company any young dancer would blossom - and Dan has been no exeption. |
